Stachys byzantina ‘lambs ear’

Lambs ear

Lambs ear is a popular mat forming, perennial ground cover. A tough little plant that has withstood the teat of time. The foliage is wholly and soft and shaped like.., well lambs ears. The foliage is silver grey and during summer spikes of purple flowers rise up above the foliage.

Great for rockeries, sunny borders and low maintenance gardens. The foliage stays incredibly low and the flower spikes won’t extend much more that 40cm above ground level. Its thick habit make it a useful living mulch.

Lambs ear prefer sunny areas of the garden. You can remove the flower heads after flowering to keep the plants looking good yard round.

We grow lambs ear in 140mm pots at out plant nursery located in Drouin, West Gippsland. If you would like to buy our plants click the button below to check current availability and pricing.
